Design and Installation of a Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) Experiment for Undergraduate Laboratories
2020

Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) is commonly used diagnostic technology to analyze flow over various surfaces to better understand velocity and vorticity profiles. This PIV system implemented at UCF into undergraduate laboratory-based courses is water-based with a built-in analyzation process to assist students in learning about PIV. The system is designed for undergraduate-level experiments so students can begin working with a PIV system early in their undergraduate career.

  • Led senior design team by communicating with university professors, industry professionals, and remote team members

  • Researched impact of PIV system capstone projects in an educational environment

  • Installed Dantec Dynamics PIV system and DynamicStudio software into university laboratories

  • Ceated a lab analyzing fluid flow around a cylinder at varying pulses and velocities
